Mount Collins Shelter, Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

Mount Collins Shelter sits only 0.7 miles in from the road to Clingman's Dome. It's a beautiful hike through pines. This is a typical Appalachian Trail shelter with two large wooden platforms for sleeping, a stone fireplace and bear-proof wire fencing across the front. Outside was a nice fire ring with large logs for benches.
