California fly fishers consider the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin, in the Eastern Sierra, a favorite for its variety of water types. It is a freestone creek, offering pocket water, pools, riffles, runs and flats. The river is accessible in the Red's Valley at the campgrounds between Agnew Meadows and Red’s Meadow on California Highway 203.
