Camping Recipes: Preparation: Skillet Meals

By David Sweet, About.com

Alamo Chicken
A camping recipe from Beth. This recipe is easy and very tasty. It's also great for those low-carb diets. After all, anything with bacon and cheese has got to be good.

Angela's Fried Apple Pie
A camping recipe from Tracy Jean. My sister Angela gave me this recipe. She saw one like it on a cooking show. It's an easy recipe to double or triple, if you have that many people.

Apple Dumplings
A camping recipe from Toni.

As You Like It Stew
A camping recipe from Grandy. The wonderful thing about this dish is that you can use just enough meat to flavor your veggies or all you want.

Bacon and Eggs in a Pita Pocket
A camping recipe from Salem. This is an excellent new way to enjoy breakfast.

Baja Style Ensenada Fish Tacos
A camping recipe from Alex Garcia.

Bean and Egg Burritos
A camping recipe from Andrea Ekeberg. We eat this all the time - at home, when camping, at relatives, even at a hotel. It is filling and super-easy.

Beef Pasta
A camping recipe from David. For this recipe you'll need your two-burner stove, a good size pot, and a 12-inch skillet.

Beef, Beans, Bacon and Potato Feast
Beef, Beans, Bacon and Potato Feast, a camping recipe from Big Rick Smith. Try this rib sticking meal after hiking, biking fishing or hunting.

Best Broccoli Omelet
A camping recipe from Phyllis DeMarco. I have been camping for many years and this is the most asked for recipe by my two boys.

Blueberry Maple Pancakes
A camping recipe from David. Pancakes are a popular campsite breakfast. This is one of my favorite versions, which goes great with bacon or sausage.

Bluegill Balls
A camping recipe from Chad Schindler. Serve with tartar sauce. If available, minced onion is good to add to mixture.

Breakfast Biscuits
A camping recipe from domsmum. I make these every time we go camping. It is a filling breakfast that only takes a few minutes to make, and clean-up is quick, which is essential to my camping recipes.

Breakfast Burritos
A camping recipe from Barbie. These are a huge hit every year and are so easy. They smell up the entire campground. You will be the envy of all who are hungry.

Breakfast Burritos
A camping recipe from Cactus Kev. I pack the frozen sausage in a thermal lunch bag with two bottles of frozen water, a small tupperware container of eggs, and the onion. Everything stays cool for the first twenty four hours.

Breakfast Burritos
A camping recipe from Darla. Make sure all sides are folded in before grilling. Very easy to pick up and eat without dishes.

Breakfast Hash
A camping recipe from Joanna Howard. This is a traditional recipe when camping and is always a huge hit. This can be done over the fire with a bed of medium-hot coals or on the stove.

Breakfast Soup for Southerners
A camping recipe from Dave. This is ideal for a two breakfast trip, just prepare a pound of bacon before you leave home. It is very good and so quick to make that you can get on with your daily activities quickly.

Breakfast in a Wrap
A camping recipe from Carol Horner. It is very good. We make it whenever we camp.

Bush Eggs
A camping recipe from Danica. This recipe is simple and quick, and the kids still eat them to this day.

Cajun Yellow Rice
A camping recipe from Robert Partigianoni. You will find that this simple breakfast meal will become the all time favorite. Very few breakfast dishes will have the flavor of this meal. This is a meal within itself, or it can be served using smaller portions as a side dish to any meal that you would serve rice.

Campfire Beans
A camping recipe from Betty. Round out this meal with a tossed green salad, bread and butter.

Campfire Chicken
A camping recipe from Bob. I tried this by accident one night during a Scout campout, and everyone loved it.

Campfire Dead Dog Pie
A camping recipe from Chris Keepes. The recipe got it's name because the dog was missing the first time we cooked it, and we told everyone that it was the dog. Still, this has been a campsite favorite whenever I prepare it for other campers.

Campfire Eggs
A camping recipe from Julie. Our family doesn't think a camping trip is complete without at least one breakfast of campfire eggs, even the kids who don't eat eggs at home.

Campfire Potatoes
A camping recipe from Marcia. We love these. We sometimes make them up with our steaks at night, or we mash the potatoes and heat them up with some butter and garlic powder. They'll fill you up, which is great when it gets cold.

Campfire Stew
A camping recipe from Cindi Stokes. This recipe is great for groups like scouts, everyone contributes and the mix is great. I can remember huge pots of this being made while girl scout camping. Everyone was responsible for opening their own can of soup and adding it to the pot.

Campfire Stew
A camping recipe from Larry Wallace. My mother cooked this recipe for my family when we camped at the river each summer. Now my wife and I fix it for our six children when we camp, and they love it as much as we did.

Camping Cakes
A camping recipe from Bruce and Dorothy. I almost didn't share this. This recipe has evolved from an old Betty Crocker cookbook. I changed a few things and have been taking them camping for 20 years or so. My grown up kids still ask me to make them when they come over. Try them at home a few times first and get comfortable with the recipe. I always mix up a dry batch and take them in an air tight bowl when we camp.

Camping Donuts
A camping recipe from Yvonne Knowles. A quick and easy breakfast or dessert recipe.
