Total Time: 13 minutes
Ingredients:
- hotdogs
- Porcini mushroom powder
- ketchup
- mustard
- chopped onion (optional)
Preparation:
Slice hotdogs almost in half, but not all the way through. Sprinkle porcini mushroom powder, a fair amount, onto the inside of the hotdog. Use a toothpick to help hold shut. Place on grill and cook to desired doneness. When done, place in bun or bread and add any desired condiments.
At home: cut a hotdog into 2 inch sections, slice in half, but not all the way through, sprinkle inside with porcini mushroom powder, place a toothpick in each one, put on paperplate and cook in microwave for 40 seconds or until done. Mmmm...

"Many people are unaware of mushroom powder. Porcini is just one of many well flavored mushroom powders. Be careful, for some people are allergic to mushrooms. But for the mushroom lovers, this is a real treat. The powder dissolves into the juices of the meats, enhancing the flavor and giving an earthly taste. Can be used on most meats, sausage (kielbasa), mix in with hamburger, pork chops, steak etc. You get the taste of mushroom without the rubbery texture that many people do not like. Give it a try! Also good in soups, stews and sauces. You'll need to experiment with the amount. It does go a long way. Most likely you will not find it in your local store. You can however go online and check the spice Web sites. I bought mine at www.thespicehouse.com." ~ Allen S.
