A camping recipe from Deltadog. This is a meal that me and some of my buddies invented one rainy day fishing on the Delaware River. As time went on, we made more and more modifications. It's very filling. Great with fresh Italian bread, butter, and a bottle of beer.

Prep Time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 2 large cans Bush beans (spicy)
  • 1 pack of hot dogs
  • 1 large onion
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 hot pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 4 tablespoons Open Pit barbecue sauce
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar, as needed

Preparation:

Chop/dice up onion. Place slices of bacon on foil over campfire. Do not overcook, and turn as needed. Dump beans in pot along with all other ingredients except hotdogs and bacon. Simmer over campfire and stir frequently to prevent burning. Taste for effect. While beans are cooking, put hotdogs on grill. Don't forget to stir the beans. When hotdogs are done, place on paper plate and cut into 1/2-inch lengths. Place in pot and mix into beans. Place bacon slices over beans. Let sit over fire for about 15 minutes and keep stirring.

Servings: 8
