By David Sweet, About.com

A camping recipe from Tom Perkins. This sandwich will melt in your mouth. It's quick, simple, and easy to do, and makes a good mid-day snack.

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 length sweet or hot Italian sausage
  • 1 bottle Open Pit barbecue sauce
  • 1 pack snowflake rolls, or your favorite

Preparation:

Cut sausage into 3-inch lengths. Then slice down the middle of each lengthwise. Flatten patties out in a rectangular shape and put on grill directly over campfire. Brush on barbecue sauce while turning. Cook until sausage is done. The more sauce the better. Place on rolls. After cooking you need no other topping.

You can cut the sausage up before you head out camping. Just place in zip-lock bags and keep on ice in your cooler.

Servings: 8-10
Preparation time: 30 minutes
