By David Sweet, About.com

A camping recipe from Pamela. This is my husband's favorite, and he named them.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 potato per person
  • 1 stick butter
  • garlic powder, optional
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 medium to large onion
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, or to taste
  • water

Preparation:

Slice potatoes and onions and layer in a baking pan or a foil baking dish. Sprinkle each layer with salt, garlic powder, and a couple slices of butter. Once you have all of the potatoes and onions ready pour enough water in the pan to cover the bottom of the pan (not too much), and then add the brown sugar on top, cover, and place on the campfire (or grill) to cook, turning occasionally. The brown sugar will caramelize. These potatoes are especially yummy for breakfast, but they are good with any meal.

Servings: as needed
Preparation time: 25 minutes
