A camping recipe from Becky. I discovered how great these taste when I forgot to take graham crackers camping, but we had taken brownies. So we improvised and ummm...yummy.
Prep Time: 45 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup shortening or margarine
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped peanuts
- 1 6-ounce package chocolate chips
- 1 bag marshmallows
Preparation:
At home: Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa and set aside. In a separate bowl melt shortening(margarine). Mix in sugar, eggs, peanut butter and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Add in the nuts and chocolate chips. Put into a greased 9 inch x 13 inch pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Place in a container with a lid to take camping.
At the campground: Cut brownies in half horizontally and set aside. Place marshmallow on a stick and toast over campfire coals until golden brown. Place marshmallow on one brownie half and place other half on top. Squish together slightly and enjoy.
