A camping recipe from zeb. This is a very easy and mess-free meal that you can customize to suit your tastes.
Prep Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound ground beef, sausage, or turkey
- -
- 1 can sliced potatoes
- 1 can mixed vegetables
- - and/or -
- fresh onions
- green peppers
- -
- cooking spray
- heavy aluminum foil
Preparation:
Lay 18" of foil flat. Fresh onions and peppers are recommended over canned vegetables, but canned food is easy to transport. Add a layer of cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place vegetables and meat (either in chunks or a patty) in foil, leaving enough room to wrap securely. Optionally, season with salt, pepper, garlic, etc. Wrap foil tightly. Add a second layer of foil to make sure your dinner does not become firewood. Place in hot coals near the edge of your campfire and allow to cook for 20-25 minutes, or until meat is finished.
VARIATION: You can mix Bisquick and water to a thick consistency and put a 1/4" layer on top of your foil before meat and vegetables to make a nice crust.
Servings: as required
