By , About.com Guide

A camping recipe from Scout Is. Twin Rivers BSA. Called a Polish Trainwreck because everything is thrown together. Of course the Kielbasa and cabbage makes it Polish. Good eats. The lid must fit tight on the Dutch oven. Copied from a forest ranger book. Make it unique by leaving out what you don't like.
Prep Time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds Kielbasa
  • new potatoes
  • cabbage
  • sweet corn (husk off)
  • onion
  • 2 quarts water
Preparation:
Get a deep 12" Dutch oven. Put water in oven, then potatoes, onions, cabbage, corn and meat. Cook for about 40 minutes, then check. Be sure to shield the oven from the wind as this robs it of heat. Nobody likes hard potatoes. It took us two hours to cook exposed to wind. Be smart and set up a wind break. Put 10 coals on bottom and 14 on top. Water should steam cook everything.

Servings: 4
