A camping recipe from Cheryl. These waffles require a little work to make, but they are delicious.
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 egg white, stiffly beaten
Preparation:
Preheat the waffle iron. Mix all ingredients (except egg white) in a large bowl and beat until smooth. Fold in the egg white. Pour about 1/2 cup of mix into the waffle iron, close and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side. Tip: use a light coating of corn oil cooking spray to prevent sticking. You can save time and reduce mess at the campground by making batches of the dry ingredients ahead of time at home. Store each batch in a Ziploc baggie until ready to use.Variations: - try adding some fresh blueberries, chocolate chips or chopped pecans.
Servings: 4-6
