A camping recipe from Patsy. My family has enjoyed this recipe for many years. In fact, it was a runner-up in a Turkey Federation Cookoff several years ago. Can be frozen and reheated.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- 1/4 cup dry oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 can cream of chicken soup, low fat
- 1 green pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1/4 cup peanut oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation:
Pour milk over dry oatmeal in a large bowl. Add the Worcestershire sauce and let set for three minutes. Mix ground turkey into oatmeal mixture and form six large patties. Heat oil in a frying pan or electric skillet to a moderate temperature. Brown patties on both sides. Reduce heat. Place a slice of onion and a ring of green pepper on each patty. Divide cream of chicken soup (undiluted) over the patties and pour a soup can of water around the sides. Simmer for 20 minutes or until done. Serve with gravy from soup. Salt and pepper to taste.
Servings: 6
