A camping recipe from Back Roads. This dessert is also good for breakfast the next morning.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
- 1 box gingerbread mix (follow box directions for quantities of other ingredients)
- egg
- vegetable oil
- water
- 1 24-ounce jar of unsweetened applesauce
Preparation:
Prepare batter as per box instructions. Pour applesauce in a cast iron Dutch oven, then pour gingerbread batter over applesauce. DO NOT STIR! Cook over fire or stove with medium heat. Wipe off perspiration from inside of lid every 10 minutes. Check with toothpick for doneness after 1 hour.
