My Review

We've been seasonal campers at this resort for many years and loved having our camper set up on a permanent site we could get to in an hour's time for a convenient weekend get away without the towing, leveling, connecting etc. that consumes so much time. When this aging campground changed ownership several years ago, many of our long-time camping friends moved on to other venues. We decided to give the new management a chance although their immediate changes negatively impacted our camping experience. Since I deal with rules and regulations all week at work, I found the new management's lengthy list of don'ts a bit trying. Fishing became catch and release; my niece and nephew could no longer drive the golf cart in the park - not even the licensed drivers under 21; the Gator which we'd driven around the park before was banished - golf carts only; no motorized scooters and on and on. The quality of our camping experience was eroded by these restrictive and, yes, I'll say it, petty, rules.

The quarrelsome, unfriendly, put upon attitude of the management of this campground has finally led to our family following our camping buddies to greener forests. From the employees in the camp store to the owner himself, I was never welcomed, greeted, or in any way made to feel that my patronage was appreciated. As a matter of fact, I frankly felt they would have preferred to receive our yearly rental fee by mail so they wouldn't have had to see us at all. In this economic environment, one expects that even the most cynical, money-motivated business owner could manage a smile and a kind word especially for their regular customers. But no, that's not the case with this Scrooge-like, defiler of our hopes for a happy camping experience. My seventy year old parents have been camping here for years... what a bitter dissappointment that their grandchildren won't be able to continue visiting here.

How did you camp?

RV

How did you find out about this campground?

We've been camping at Bald Mountain for many years along with many of our friends from the Cleveland area. We learned about the campground through word of mouth.

Pros and cons?

Scenic location and well-maintained bath houses. However, facilities are aging and amenities are few: small pool, overpriced and understocked camp store, putt-putt course accumulating leaves and sticks. Very few special events. Management discontinued weekly bingo games this year.

Nearby attractions?

The glorious north Georgia mountains.

Would you recommend this to a friend?
