My Review

This is the best campground! So clean, bathrooms are checked constantly by NF hosts/volunteers. Spacious sites, almost all are shaded by trees. This hidden gem isn't so hidden anymore. So happy we got there at 2 pm on Wednesday. They were full that night and the rest of our stay through Saturday. People are there to appreciate the outdoors not party. Everyone is so nice and friendly. Tucked in the valley, but 3000 feet makes it a nice summer campground and still sleeping weather.

How did you find out about this campground?

Friends and a Web search.

Pros and cons?

Pros: Great camping weather, beautiful area, tons of hiking trails, swimming at the dam.

Cons: No way to reserve. You could get there and there will be no sites available and you are out of luck. Bathroom light didn't turn off at night, or ever. Don't take site 10 for this reason.

Nearby attractions?

Mt. Mitchell, Mountain to Sea Trail, hard hiking trails, easy hiking trails, Setrock Falls, South Toe River, swimming hole.
