We tent camped with three children at Crawford State Park in June of 2010. The campground was clean and well monitored. The campground hosts do a fine job of monitoring campsites, cleaning out fire pits and so forth. The bathrooms (with pay showers) are very clean. There are nice walking trails easily accessible from the campsite, as well as easy fishing access. Though the campground is relatively close to the highway, it's not busy. The more annoying noise comes from a nearby farm, you hear cows bawling occasionally, and from passing and parking party boats on the lake. While there, we visited both Rims of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, drove to the nearby "Needles" rock structure, waded, fished and swam in the lake at the swim beach.
