My Review

North Dickey Lake Campground is located in the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana between Whitefish and Eureka, Montana. At an elevation of 3,100 feet, the campground encompasses 8 acres. There are 25 campsites, and water and restrooms are provided. Fishing, boating, water skiing and swimming may be enjoyed on the lake. Hiking trails can also be found at the campground. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. It is a great value at $10/night. We arrived on a Wednesday and had no problem finding a great site. This surprised us, since it is summertime in Montana, and the parks and campgrounds are usually pretty packed.

North Dickey Lake recreation site offers picnicking, group picnicking, a swimming beach with grassy area (no lifeguard), boat ramp/dock, fishing access, accessible trail and overlook, nearby hiking trails, and it is in close proximity to the Ant Flat Interpretive Center. The lake is beautiful. Gorgeous turquoise in color.

A gas station/mini grocery store a few miles towards Eureka has most of what you'll need. We stopped at On The Fly, a teeny ice cream, pizza, sandwich shop. Real pleasant owners who left Houston for a simpler life and found it here.

The campground has plenty of trees so we felt relatively secluded from our neighbors. The camp host offered his Internet for us to use free of charge, which we were thankful for. Easy drive to the wonderful lake/ski town of Whitefish, which is also close to Glacier National Park.

Definitely recommend the campground, area and the friendly residents.

My sister recommended it. She and her family frequent this campground.

Pros and cons?

: Great value at $10/night. Well wooded sites located on a spectacular turquoise blue lake. Bathrooms/water fountains. Free Internet offered by host.

Cons: No showers, no cell service, not much in the way to eat out in the area.

Nearby attractions?

Lots of hiking trails. Plenty of fishing. Scenery is some of the best in the U.S. Kootenai forest is full of Indian heritage.
