My Review

Me and my 7 year old stayed there for the first time this weekend. We had #29. It was a bit hard to find as it branches off from the main path. For fire reasons, you had to back in, but since the site caters to RVs it was easy enough to back my little sedan in. The site had a good amount of shade in the afternoon and evening. The tent got really hot around 8 am, so sleeping in wasn't an option. The bathrooms and showers were close by and very clean.

My only problem was the showers were the type that you pressed the button and it ran for so many seconds. Unless you used the handicapped bathroom, it was very hard for my kid to use. Also the water pressure in the showers was so low that I had to finish rinsing her hair in the bathroom.

The site was quiet save for some guy on a speaker phone call at 11 pm that everyone heard. Dish cleaning is done at site, so bring a bucket or two. Lots of ants, but not any problems with them coming into site or your stuff. Close by was the discovery center and you're given a free admission to any of the centers campfire activities. Just across the Stanfield cutoff was two grocery stores. Fawnskin is a 5 minute drive.

I would stay here again next year.

Pros and cons?

Pros: Clean showers/bathrooms. Mostly shaded space. Quiet. Stuff for kids near by. Close to everything.

Cons: Showers. If camping with small ones, either help them take a shower (and take yours with them) or use the handicap shower. Showers that stay on would make this campsite a 10+.

Nearby attractions?

Having a little one, we hit up the discovery center several times, the Big Bear Historical Museum (about 10 minutes away in Big Bear City) where they let you pan for gold, the village, the lake boat tours and the renaissance faire.
