What do you write about in your camping blog?
I write about various aspects of family camping: tent camping, RVing, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kids activities, camp cooking and preparing for a camping trip.
What gave you the idea to start a camping blog?
My name is Beata Antoszek and I am the publisher of MomandDadCamping.com.
I started camping when I was 6 years old and I have tried various forms of camping since then: backcountry, tent camping and RVing. Currently my family owns a trailer, which is parked on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. After my son, now 8, was born we have noticed that camping with kids is a different story altogether. It requires more planning, preparation and "stuff" in general. I have plenty of advice for parents who would like to take their kids camping. I am also an advocate of camping as a way to take children away from TVs and computers and back into nature. My site includes a blog with plenty of tips and information, as well as a forum for members to share their stories and concerns.
Advice
- Plan well in advance.
- Always make reservations
- Pack extra clothes for the kids, but do not overpack.
- Keep some routines, especially the bedtime routine.
- Let your kids get dirty or stay home.
- Relax and have fun.
