Set the stage
It was during the December school holidays last year when my family and I went to Pulau Ubin for camping. Pulau Ubin is a very beautiful place to camp. When we arrived there, my parents looked for a spot to place the tent. Watching my parents attempting to get the tent set up before we got started with our activities was hilarious and entertaining. After a few minutes of them struggling, I pitched in and we got it set up together. Once that was done, we went for a walk and enjoyed the fantastic scenery. We spent our time there with many different fascinating activities such as cycling, fishing, rock climbing and kayaking/
Tell the tale
The night arrived. The night activity for that day was night cycling, which was fun. But on that unlucky night, something happened to me. I was cycling at a speed of 45 kilometers per hour. It was a very high speed for just an ordinary BMX bike. The chain was not able to withstand the speed of the bicycle, so it broke. My parents and I did not know what to do as the chain broke in the middle of nowhere. Apart from that, there was a group of stray dogs just meters away. That made the problem worse. The group of dogs were heading towards us. So, not quite knowing what to expect, we stood still as we knew that dogs are more sensitive towards moving objects.
Finally, my parents called the police. After the police arrived, we were brought back to Singapore to the clinic. In the meantime, while we were in the bumboat, we were given some medication just to stop the bleeding. When we arrived, the paramedics were already waiting for us at the jetty. We were rushed to the hospital to know whether the wound was affected. But luckily it was not that bad.
I was then bandaged and I was not able to walk normal for three weeks. From then on I was very afraid of dogs, especially those types of wild dogs. I regretted speeding that time. If I had just not done so, I would have enjoyed myself instead of being rushed to a hospital. This is one of the biggest obstacle that I face in my life, having been bitten twice by a dog. That miserable experience is still unforgettable even now.
